VALLEY OF THE MIST CHAPTER

The Valley of the Mist Chapter was organized February 20, 1981 and chartered October 17, 1981. The chapter holds its meetings on the 1st Thursday in January, March, May, September and November.

The chapter is named for the Temecula Valley. Members of this chapter are located throughout the valley and the following description illustrates the reasoning for the selection of the “Valley of the Mist” as the chapter’s new name.

“Almost every day, the elements wage a pleasant war in the Valley. At daybreak, fog reigns, claiming the Valley with a cool mist. The sun chases away the fog, to warm the hills.

By early afternoon, the Pacific Ocean sends cool, salty breezes through the Rainbow Gap, to protect the Valley from the desert heat. As the sun and sea retire, the Moon stands watch in the clear night air, until predawn hours. Then, the fog returns over the mountains to reclaim “the Valley of the Mist.”

The Valley of the Mist Chapter meets in the Temecula Valley area on the 1st Thursday in the months of Jan., Mar., May, Sept. and Nov. The chapter is currently involved in a variety of projects:

  1. Supporting our veterans
  2. Providing genealogical, heraldry, and coat of arms books to local libraries
  3. Honoring an outstanding teacher of history
  4. Honoring women veterans
  5. Assisting members and prospective members in researching their colonial and heraldic ancestors.
